Photo of the Month

If you love the outdoors, Northeast Iowa has a lot of areas to explore. One of my favorite places is Yellow River State Forest. It is located in Allamakee County between Harpers Ferry and Waterville. For the outdoor-lover it has a wide range of things to do, including camping, hiking trails, equestrian trails, birding, picnic areas, hunting and plenty of fishing on the trout streams and marsh areas. All the trails are open throughout the year and there is something to suit everyone with degree of difficulty ranging from easy to moderate. On a recent trip I decided to check out some land that was recently acquired by the Yellow River Forest. At the beginning of the trail is an old bridge that goes over the trout stream. When I got to the end and looked back, I saw a great photo opportunity to capture the beauty of Iowa's countyside. If you have not been to Yellow River Forest yet, take some time out and enjoy the peaceful settings that this park has to offer.
